STPUD Recognized with Six Prestigious Awards in 2025

South Lake Tahoe, CA (February 2, 2026) – In 2025, South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD) was honored with six prestigious awards recognizing outstanding performance in financial management, information technology, and water and wastewater operations. These awards underscore the District’s commitment to high-quality public service and operational excellence.

“The receipt of these significant awards is a testament to the expertise and professionalism of our employees,” said Paul Hughes, STPUD General Manager. “They reflect our unwavering dedication to financial transparency, excellence in technology, and the efficient, reliable operation of our water and sewer systems.”

Among the honors received, STPUD was awarded the Excellence in Information Technology Award from the Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC), recognizing the District’s leadership in leveraging technology to improve service delivery, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency.

The District was also recognized for outstanding financial stewardship, earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for the 30th consecutive year.

In addition, the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Sierra Section honored STPUD and its employees with four awards celebrating exceptional wastewater operations and staff expertise:

  • Mechanical Technician of the Year – Scott Glaze
  • Electrical Instrumentation Person of the Year – Jared Aschenbach
  • Medium Plant of the Year – South Tahoe Public Utility District
  • Safety Plant of the Year – South Tahoe Public Utility District

“Scott Glaze’s recognition as Mechanical Technician of the Year is especially meaningful to all of us at the District,” Hughes said. “While we are deeply saddened by his recent passing, this award is a powerful reminder of the exceptional mechanic, dedicated public servant, and trusted teammate he was.”

Together, these awards reflect STPUD’s continued investment in its workforce, infrastructure, and systems to protect public health, the environment, and the Lake Tahoe community it serves.
