STPUD Board Selects Paul Peschel as Interim General Manager
South Lake Tahoe, CA (November 5, 2026) — The South Tahoe Public Utility District Board of Directors has selected Paul Peschel to serve as the Interim General Manager beginning November 16, 2026.
Peschel, a California Registered Civil Engineer, has experience as a public utility executive in water, wastewater, electric utilities, infrastructure, and public-agency management. He previously served as General Manager of both the Hi-Desert Water District and Kings River Conservation District, and most recently served as Assistant General Manager of Water Operations for the Modesto Irrigation District.
During his service with Imperial Irrigation District, Peschel provided leadership across both water and electric utility functions and managed a multidisciplinary organization of approximately 137 permanent employees.
“The Board believes Paul’s breadth of experience and demonstrated public-sector leadership will provide valuable stability and support for the District during this interim period,” said Shane Romsos, Board President. “We are pleased to welcome him to STPUD and look forward to working together to continue serving our community.”
"I'm looking forward to working with the Board and District employees to continue providing reliable water and wastewater services to the South Lake Tahoe community,” said Peschel. “My initial focus will be on listening, learning, supporting the team, and helping the District advance its priorities during this transition."
South Tahoe Public Utility District’s Board of Directors has initiated a nationwide search for the next General Manager. The Board anticipates completing the recruitment and selection process in April 2027.
