Welcome to Water Conservation!

Water is California’s most precious natural resource, but the state is currently recovering from one of the worst droughts in modern history. To protect California’s limited water supplies, the state extended water restrictions to limit outdoor water use and waste.

The South Tahoe Public Utility District supports the state’s actions, and is committed to conserving water. We invite you to participate in our Water Conservation Program! Water efficiency incentives, services and resources are available to help residents and businesses use water wisely. Please click on the links below for more information.

  • "Step On It: Grass doesn't always need water just because it’s hot out. Step on the lawn, and if the grass springs back, it doesn’t need water. An inexpensive soil moisture sensor can also show the amount of moisture at the plant’s roots and discourage overwatering.”

Remember, there is never enough water to waste in the Sierra!
