Department Purpose and Mission:
To provide cost-effective design and inspection services which result in projects tailored to meet the needs of the District.
The Engineering Department performs engineering functions for the District. This involves planning, designing, and overseeing the construction of new facilities in addition to the modification of existing processes and structures.
Goals and Objectives:
- Complete construction of Export B-line Phase II replacement project
- Conduct planning studies and design for road to Al Tahoe Blvd
- Complete environmental documents and design of Export B-line Phase III replacement project and commence construction
- Design Gardner Mountain pump station replacement.
- Continue Geographic Information System (GIS) development
- Continue the water line replacement program with new lines at Long's and Highway 50 from Al Tahoe Blvd. to San Jose Ave.
- Complete construction of MTBE treatment facilities for Arrowhead Well No.
- Construct replacement water tanks for Gardner Mountain Tank #1 and Keller Tanks.
- Conduct pilot studies, pre-purchase units, design and commence construction on new facilities for new centrifuges to improve sludge dewatering at the wastewater treatment plant.
- Design and commence construction for covers on the Primary Clarifiers to improve odor control at the WWTP
- Support ongoing litigation due to impacts of MTBE on supply wells.
- Support the needs of the city of South Lake Tahoe Redevelopment plan.
